How IAL grade boundaries work
Pearson sets new raw-mark boundaries for every paper in every series, so the same mark can be an A on one paper and a B on another. Your UMS for a unit is scaled from these boundaries: the A boundary is worth 80% of the unit's UMS, B 70%, C 60%, D 50% and E 40%, with A* at 90% on A2 units. Full UMS is reached before full marks.
